They have great colors, unexpected textures, and low prices. But they really missed the mark with their Glass Toothpick Ornament Ball ($1.50, was $1.98). Unless you are decorating a tree at a steakhouse, who needs balls of toothpicks dangling around their home? Weird, unsanitary, and visually unappealing at any price!

When I first moved to NYC, I got my sofa from a curb in the East Village and carried it all the way to my Times Square pad. I got lamps, vases, even my sheets (in retrospect, that wasn't my smartest move) from scouring the streets. But I never found anything as elegant to salvage as Pottery Barn's Architectural Salvage Lamp ($79, was $170). Guess their buyers do a little dumpster diving, too!
